HOSPICE
Our shop joined with our local chapter of the Embroider's Guild of America, Spartan Samplers, and the local chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild, Carolina Canvas Connection, to stitch for our new Hospice home here in Spartanburg.
We selected the Christmas Santas from Designs by Petei to be stitched because they are small, very interesting and there are so many from which to choose.
The shop sold the canvases to the members at the wholesale price (just for this purpose) and the members agreed to pay for the threads to be used and the finishing. Our finisher agreed to give us a discount on the finishing because of the nature of this project. Much to our surprise, other non-guild members wanted to join in on the stitching to donate these Santas in memory of their loved ones.
For Christmas 2006, the Pediatric Evening Clinic (owned by Sallie's husband) purchased a 9-foot Christmas tree and we placed it in the lobby of the new hospice home. In addition to the Santas (about 71 stitched over a six month period), we decorated the tree with clear balls and stars. Needless to say, it was beautiful!
In 2007, we approached Designs by Petei and asked if she could design a tree topper Santa nad she did! It was stitched by several members and placed on top of the tree!! How beautiful!
